I just think Sean mentioned things he really thought he could get in the game for launch but as the deadline neared it became more difficult than the team thought. They got a delay in the hope of getting it in but still it wasn't long enough and they knew they could not delay it further, so they announced it went gold and prayed they could put everything in the first patch. That's why they insisted that people shouldn't review it until the patch was launched. But still, although the patch was substantial, they couldn't quite meet the deadline. All the content (much of which is already there but people still think it isn't) will eventually be added, and 'more'.
Sean's reticence on the matter at the moment is the right thing to do. There are far too many outlets, forums and people with agendas to ever hope to satisfy anyone and it will likely just cause yet another round of negativity. It's best to be quiet, work hard and get that content finished.
