The only mid-gen upgrades I've ever jumped on were the Gameboy Advance SP and the New 3DS...but both were more due to issues with their predecessors than anything else. My current PS4 doesn't have any hardware problems yet, so I have no reason to upgrade. I'm fine waiting for the PS5 at this point.
