The area in midgar between the save point and the playground with the pipes where you fight the evil houses that try to jump on you.

I hated that area the first time I played the game because one pipe didn't scream out to me that I could walk on it so I kept trying to operate the crane but getting frustrated because it didn't seem to do anything.


There were a few other areas but that one sticks out the most to me.  If anything, FF7's biggest problem for me was separating out interactive scenary from non-interative scenery.  There were times where I'd walk by switches or levers because I didn't know I could use them.  There were other times where I'd be running along clicking buttons hoping that something happened when I was really looking at scenery.

After about 4 or 5 playthroughs, I know where everything is now and what everything does... but that first playthrough had some frustrating moments.
