Here is the RUB when using ARC, often times it is only capable of outputting Dobly Digital 5.1 at most. Some TV's, even modern ones, may only return 2.1 using ARC.
If your source is any of the HD Audio Formats of Uncompressed audio it will not pass through or the player will downgrade the audio quality to Dolby 5.1.
For some that may be just fine but it is not a good solution for those that care about HD audio.
