Although, honestly, I should just use a mouse and keyboard for everything (fighting games included). There's no good reason for using a controller on PC when you have a mechanical keyboard.

 

But, back to the PS4, that's why the USB connection is significant.  Not related to the PC.

Ah.  So what you are saying is that you can still connect your original DS4 to the PS4 for recharging purposes, but the inputs are read via Bluetooth.  Am I correct?
