New PS4 Controller vs original DualShock 4: what’s the difference?

The wireless bluetooth on my controllers seems crap compared to the PS3/DS3 ones, if I sit in a way were my knees are up on my sofa and it blocks the signal, the controls lag loads. Does this new controller have a better bluetooth connection?
