At lest in the upper class, wich englobe 10% of the maket? a very small part i´d say. Tesla does not woke anything, they just have a bigger marketing machine. All the car companies are researching the electric fuel because there will be a market for electric cars and everybody want a piece of it. Tesla does not invent the concept of electric cars, the concept exist for decades, they just make the public believe they are pionieers.  I study electric engeneering in Brazil and this topic is a very popular talk whith my professors. Im sure that the germans manufactures are developing the tecnology because of their self interest not because tesla.

The investments picked up after Tesla brought the Model S also there was alot of media attention on electric cars here after Tesla. They changed the image of the electrical car. I am not saying they invented the electric car. The electric car was invented a century ago. But they marketed it well thats their success. Making the public believe in something is an accomplishment. They brought attention to it. Its just a matter of time (10-20 years) until the middle class will also drive mainly electrical vehicles. 

Mercedes will come with an EV between E and C class soonish. And I cant wait for the reveal. I think the build quality of Tesla is lacking alot which is really disappointing considering the car costs 100000 Euro.  

I will not discuss this further as this is off topic. However those are my 5 cents to the matter.
