I like the Cold Steel saga enough that I'd follow it anywhere but it would be pretty stupid to put the final game in a trilogy on a console that got neither of the first two games.
Besides, from what I've seen of Ys VIII, Falcom is fully capable of putting out some great looking games on Vita
