I'm not living my life knowing my genetic material is walking around, if this child is born and given life then it's mine and I'm looking after it. (preferably on my own to be honest, she shouldn't be in charge of a child)

Well thats you and your GF's choice. I mean given the situation, I think it would be the best option. But that isn't my choice to make. I also sent a personal letter talking about more of the same thing; though of course its a bit more "personal". I wish you the best.
