I personally don't care if a console is "winning" or "losing". Sega Saturn lost the generation and was a great console to play.
From a marketting point of view however...it appears both sony and microsoft made mistakes. Consumers want cheap...consumers dont want online or media capabilities...consumers want motion controlls...
