Some people have spent a large sum of money on high-quality 4k TVs.
For all people talk about consoles being 'just for games,' thats often untrue.
In this age, a console will hold prime (and sometimes sole) place in the living room under your TV.
Sony's new premium offering will do nothing to bring out the best in high end 4k TVs available now, letalone even better TVs over the next few years. Indeed, Microsoft's current Slim will do more to present compelling content for these TVs.
Will this change the nature of the 'console war?' Doubt it. But it remains a very legitimate gripe, and given the apparent low costs involved in providing this key feature, a signficant oversight on Sony's part.
