Remember when the PS3 was the best selling console since its launch because it was the cheapest bluray player? Yeah, me neither. How come people are complaining that they have to buy multiple consoles to watch movies but not to actually play games? Where's the outrage that Sony dares to release a console that does not play Microsoft or Nintendo games and that you have to buy additional hardware to play them? |
While I would really like if they included the UHD BR support, I guess they learned the lesson with the PS3. I didn't helped them before, it actually killed them because of the extra cost (way higher than a 4K BR). I must admit that I didn't used the BR drive a lot. With the PS3 and PS4, I have 3 BR movies, one of which I got as a gift. I've rented movies once and probably watched around 8 hours of BR on my consoles, while my time on Netflix and even WWE Network is probably on the hundreds of hours already.
It all depends on how much the drive adds to costs. I would say that if it is more than 50 bucks, it's worth the cut.
