Did Square Enix make make the right decision?

As long as I can switch characters during combat, it's all good, and FF7R seems to be doing it right from the trailer I've seen, and they have tons of different characters in FF7. On the other side in FFXV, you're stuck with controlling one character which blows in my opinion.
