He explains they started planning the PS4 pro, long before Microsoft started working on project scorpio. The reason why? They have research that shows mid gen, they lose potential costumers (that buy consoles) because they choose to buy gameing pcs instead (because they want better graphics at that point, than the launch consoles had).

Well, obviously they were working on the Pro before the Scorpio, if that wasn't the case it wouldn't be able to come out a year before it.
