just hate it when the seemingly well informed PC folk do shit like this. Ok. kindly tell him to add the case, keyboard, mouse, controller and an operating system. And even at that, talk like that just goes to show you either have no idea or have a bias when it comes to how consoles work.
Anyways to OP, this is kinda the generally unsaid thing.... It's impossible (unless you are a bargain hunter and searching for used parts) to at anytime build a PC that will have a better power to price ratio than a console. You can't build a PC that will outperform the PS4pro at $400. If you are really taking all that goes into a PC into consideration.
By their very nature, consoles will always just have or pose a better value for your money. If gaming is all you want. But if you are ready to get the pinnacle in performance and price is not an issue, then consoles will never touch PCs.
