Are you smoking crack? The game is probably played by more women than any RPG or just about any game ever made. It is DEFINITELY a casual game or it could not sell 10 million plus. In order to be that successful, you have to crack the casual gamer barrier.
I know a few girls that play WoW (by girls I mean women) that think every other video game on the planet is lame. How is that not casual?
To your point about checking online builds, PVP strats and the like I can say this, you are obviously not paying attention to the whole of the community. There are plenty of players in the higher levels that just play the game with no real technique because their sister/mother/friends are all playing it. The game has really become another big way to communicate with people.
And as another poster has said, just about (hell, I cannot think of one) every other MMORPG is much harder to get into and takes a much steeper learning curve. That keeps casual gamers away. Casual gamers find the most accessible game and latch onto it.
