Whatever the case, the Neo will support 4k output. Now if you are connected to a 4k TV there will be upscaling happenning somewhere. The TV either upscales the content it gets to its native resolution or the console upscales it's native render to match it's output resolution.

Chances are that the console will do a much better job at upscaling than the TV.

Then there is the little fact that (unless the person is crazy) the Neo (even if it had 5TF GPU) cannot handle native 4k games. So whatever we are getting in 4k is going to be upscaled from some lower native render. Be it 1080p, 1440p or 1800p.

My money on Neo games is that they are run at a 1440p native render, down samples to 1080p and then upscaled to 4k for output.

I'm not technically minded so I don't know if we're agreeing or not.

Haha!! Yes we are.

I'm inclined to think though that most of that GPU muscle will go to just getting the 1080p native render used in the og PS4 looking as clean as possible with all the extra bells and whistles they can throw at it. Then upscale that for a 4k output.

Just sounds like a much better use of resources than pushing for as high a native resolution as possible. Cause that can cause it's own issues.

eg. Take Horizon for instance. Say all  we have seen of the game is of it running at 1080p@30fps. They could end up with a game that looks/runs worse than the og PS4 version if they push for native 4k. Or even 1800p.
