Mine is fine too I bought it back in November 2006, play it alot. I have it in my rather cool basement, I don't know if this helps or not. I was wondering about when it's purchased it seems there are more problems with the ones bough early on. I don't think there has been alot of problems with systems bought in the last 8 months.
If you count refurb systems then its offsetting the numbers for people who are considering to buy a system. They are not buying a refurb. Refurb anything is usually far worse. I bought a refurb ps2 that failed in a week on me. For example if you bought 1 and it failed and you replaced it 4 times, I bought it and it's fine and 2 friends of mine bought it and there's were fine, so you have 75% newly bought fine, 3 out of 4 people with no problems but you add in the refurbs and it looks like 50/50. Worse if you just count 4 failed systems for 4 people it looks like a 100% failure rate. When it's just one guy that's having problems(his fault or not)
