Pre orders, season pass, crowd funded games, and payed betas all in the same court, i find it very weird that someone put money that much upfront, but they do it, and if devs can profit from that, they will, not really their fault, gamers say "here have my money just for the promise of future good fun..." Would you deny it if it does help you with your current project? People with to much money and people wanting to chew more than what they can bite.
