I can see that since the processor is bundled with every PSVR.
Doesn't seem premium at all if that's the case. Kaz has constantly talked about expanding PlayStation beyond games and building a bigger brand, but this shows no signs of that. However, looking at how they keep doing the same thing over and over with Vaio and Xperia perhaps Sony is just really stuck, and just got really lucky with PS4. At any rate, Wednesday can't come fast enough, then I‘ll know if It's a stud or a dud. |
Just got lucky? I guess they just got lucky with the PS1, PS2, and with recovering from the mess that was the PS3 launch? No, Sony knows what it is doing when it comes to games. They are putting out the more appealing HW and a good price. The only one they failed at was PS3, which is actually where they did aim too high, like some seem to want them to do, again. Of course, since the PS brand is so known and enjoyed WW, the PS3 was able to recover from a poor launch and 1st year on market. And how did they do it? By simplifying things and cutting costs to reasonable levels. People seem to be confused at what the Slim and Neo are all about.
The Slim was to cut costs to a minimum, so they could drop the price of the PS4, most likely to $249. So, it didn't add things like the XBOS did, but it didn't need to, as the PS4 was selling fine without those things, and the Slim will fly off shelves with a cheaper price. And if MS tries to match a $249 PS4, they are going to start taking on losses, thanks to the features they added. This may force them to stick with $299.
The Neo is a boost in performance, not a premium console that includes every feature under the sun. Again, this is to give a substantial boost to those who want it. The most I expect to be new on it is a 4K Bluray player and a 4K upscaler, since it will be focusing on 4K. Other than that, it'll be just like the OG PS4, but with a better GPU. This will most likely launch at $399, because it isn't adding a bunch of new HW features, the same price as the PS4 OG launched at. Now MS, just like with the Slim, may choose to add a bunch of features to the Scorpio, mostly because they have to to compete, but they are probably going to also have to launch for $449-$499. A $449-$499 Scorpio against a $349 Neo (Sony will most likely drop the price around the Scorpio's launch), will get destroyed.
Edit: Also, if you see no signs of them expanding the brand, then what do you call PS Music (powered by Spotify) and more importantly PS Vue?
