500$ is a tough sell TBH. 400$-300$ is the sweet spot to get console to the consumers. So I am not sure how they are going to market Scorpio and get people interested in it. I know many people say they do not see difference between Xbone and PS4 game so downsampled game to 1080P TV is going to be impossible if they can't see the upscalling resolution. |
It's a "Halo Product".
nVidia doesn't make the Titan graphics processor because they shift 10's of millions of those cards do they?
There is a point in having a higher premium product in your lineup, regardless of how it sells.
It is the product that gets used in your advertising, the product with the best possible experience, best possible graphics, best everything... And hopefully the product that is used when it comes time to be compared to the competition.
It could also open the doors for other consoles at other price points as well.
As an Xbox One owner... There is indeed a difference between the Xbox One and Playstation 4, whether it's substantual enough for people to care is another matter entirely.
It's certainly not the difference you got with the Playstation 2 and original Xbox though, but it's still enough that I am happy to ridicule the Xbox One more harshly than the Playstation 4, both of which are underpowered devices in my opinion.
