All it would do is muddy the waters of that day. The Neo and the NX are not entirely chasing after the same market, and Nintendo knows that. They won't try to "overshadow" Sony by competing against a system that looks positively monstrous compared to what the NX is rumored to be (in a good way). Besides, the Neo is liable to be released very soon and has 3 years of massive momentum on its side, while the NX is six months away and, if they market it as a console, will have to clear away the bad press that came with the Wii U. It needs time to breathe, and the market is differentiated enough that both products should have at least a few days to a week to breathe.
