I concur. Oshii Mamoru, known as the director of GITS, is notorious in this regard. Every time I watch his new release, listen to his long pseudo-intellectual dialogs, and see fans raving about them, my faint hope about the future of Anime dies and I find myself in deep despair.

Last year, there was only one anime title that gave me some hope about the potential of this media.
