Some people have home theater systems that use optical audio. Without an optical audio port, those people can't use PS4 Slim. I'm one of those people, I have an optical audio home theater system, the computer monitor I hook my consoles up to has no speakers of it's own that can pull audio over HDMI, so I would only be able to use headsets for audio with PS4 Slim.
