Sony wants mass media coverege just as much as Apple does. Also, people buying PS4s are also those buying smartphones. Its not different, its a subset.
As mentioned, yes gaming sites will present PS4 news and then maybe iPhone. But mass media is where the $$$ is at and that is what Apple and Sony both want, free mass media advertisments.
