i was thinking the same thing. Just like when sports fans purchace a season ticket for their favourite team, it only last for a year and wont even get you to every game as cup games wont be included.
i guess publishers have a timespan on what they class as a seaon in a game, maybe around a year also. But anyway just as somebody else stated, if you dont like or agree with the idea then you arnt forced into doing it anyway.
