I don't think there's anything particularly impressive in BOTW per se. But seeing all those elements combined in a Zelda game is what has me hyped for the game.

I really have a hard time with people praising it like it re-invented the wheel, and that of course because it's a Nintendo game, all those ideas and implementation of them are godly and have never been done before with such grace and finesse and blah blah blah. Really, there's nothing I've never seen in this elsewhere.

That being said, I'm a huge Zelda fan. Not because it is an innovative franchise, but because of a lot of elements that combine into a package that satisfy my needs for that kind of game. Compelling combat, atmosphere, puzzles, the way you progress through the game via new items and equipment--> with older locations holding new secrets once you get certain items later on, the music, the actual way you get stronger over time by finding hidden treasures after solving secret puzzles by following obscure leads from seemingly random npcs, etc...

I have to say this is the best looking Zelda game since ALTTP, from a gameplay perspective. The game looks really fun to play, is pleasing to the eye, and I can't wait to finally play through it.

I'm not a zelda fan, but that is exactly my opinion. The game looks really good, it seems like an exciting zelda (at least but probably not only for fans), with both new ideas and the traditional quality of the serie, and I like the fact that Nintendo scaled up things... but really there is nothing I find impressive. Especially if we restrict to the current topic (visual and audio), there are clearly more impressive games, even on equivalent hardware.
