How Long Does It Take You To Master A Game?

The hardest game i've played is Gears of War online. I love it but i find it hard to get a kill.

I'm at a fairly decent level now, where i won't be last and to get to this point it has taken me 9 months lol.

I should be a master by the time Gears 2 comes out.
