You print it out and go to somebody who understands what he sees. S/he will be able to explain to you what those four blocks (2 on top, 2 on bottom) are and what they can do (particularly the Clamshell mode will sound like a miracle to you). Now my worst-case bit of redesigning the cache line interface is a bit highest-level so I'm not going into that, way too complex at this stage. As for the Neo being a 4k console, no it isn't. There is a difference between upscaling 1080p pictures to 4k and actually generating native 4k pictures. The former one is the task of an upscaler (which the Neo has in hardware, thanks to AMD), the latter is a question of brute TF power -which the Neo simply doesn't have enough of it. Sure you could play Pong and Minecraft in 4k native. For anything else: Native 1080p upscaled by good hardware scaler >> fumbled 4k native. I'm sure there will be initial 4k games on the Neo - they will look as shitty then as those sub 720p games look on the X1 now. The next step will be 4k games that do unimaginable software tricks to "look good" but that still won't make the Neo a 4k console. We don't even know the specs of the Neo's TMUs and ROPs (which are usually tied to memory bandwidth). The Neo is clearly designed to aid PSVR and get the best 1080p picture for the money. And that is what was originally said. All this 4k talk is just wishful thinking. |
Ok let me understand something. Basixally this is what you sre saying.....
- It will be impossible for Sony to make the Neo come with anything more than 8GB of ram because that will result in them redesigning the current PS4 APU and something that they just won't or can't do?
- The PS4n will have a 4k upscaler. But lack the power to run anything at a resolution higher than 1080p natively.
- And lastly, the Neo was designed To make the most out of PSVr?
- I have not said that the Neo will beyond a doubt have more ram in it than the ogPS4. I have however said that it's not impossible that it could. Being that they are already redesigning the APU and improving it, it's not beyond reason that they could make accommodations for more ram if they see fit.
- if you have read any of my previous posts about the matter, then you will know I am fully aware that the neo (and not even the scorpio) will be cable of native 4k at 30fps without making some other concessions with regard to the overall I.Q. I have even gone as far as say that there is real 4k and console 4k which I believe will just be an upscaled internal render. So the Neo can render at 1400/1800p natively which just reduced the Delta between it and the upscaled 4k output to minimize upscaling artifacts. Or another alternative would be to just bedazzled the hell out of a native 1080p render and still end up with a very decent 4k upscale. And in case you have not been paying attention, Sony has also released discs on 4k output and renders and techniques and even resolutions recommended for use.
- for this point, I'm just not gonna bother.
