The difference I believe lies in the harm or lack thereof. Pedophilia is incredibly harmful to children, and the desire to protect our children runs deep. By contrast, a consenting, adult gay couple wanting to get married harms nobody. 

So no, I can't see it happening.

You could argue that, from the perspective of a more traditionalist person, homosexuality is also harmful in the way that it "doesn't really allow you to reproduce and have a normal family, leaving one to indulge in degenerate behaviour - leading to a more miserable life". 

This 'gradual acceptance' of pedos i believe might come, not from the impossible lack of the need to protect our kids, but from empathy towards the 'poor, oppressed, ostricized people of diffirent sexual taste'. After all they are people just like us, right??
