Gaming - So the Scorpio.... - View Post

Scorpio wont be aiming at 4k/60frames. It will be 4k/30 or 1080p-1440p/60frames. My future gaming PC will have 9tf and still cant achieve 4k/60 with everything on.

It should be able to do 1800P@30fps, possibly 60fps in a few titles and upscale it from there.

1800P = 2880x1800.
Flops also has no correllation with resolution or framerate.

I think the big thing we should see though is lower resolutions, higher framerate and then the use of frame reconstruction to achieve those higher resolutions whilst having a massive upkick in image quality.
Quantum Break was one of the first big tests of that technology and it was actually a massive success.

They would be shooting themselves in the foot a bit if they did. I don't think itl be over $499, let's not forget if any company can afford to take losses on hardware to obtain some marketshare... its MS with their reserves.

The Xbox One S will likely target the lower price bracket... Remember that console isn't going anywhere.

And just because Microsoft has cash in the bank, doesn't mean they will use it, they have shareholder wrath to worry about. :P

The question will be how much will a 6TF console parts have dropped in price by end of next year, I personally dont see them selling a console more than $599.

AMD are selling it's chips stupidly cheap at the moment, I think people will be surprised.

The PS3 was the better equipment only on paper. Most devs actually couldn't code for the damned thing, so most games actually performed worse on the PS3 unless it was an exclusive developed for the console. However, the potential meant that the PS3 had a longer lifespan than the older X360 which lacked the Blu ray player and extra computing power that could be tapped into if devs bothered to try (most didn't).

But wasn't the Xbox 360 on the market longer than the Playstation 3?
Kinda means the Xbox 360 had the longer lifespan.
