I would hold both equally responsible for footage shown at E3. In this case, I hold both Sony and Hello Games equally responsible for NMS footage shown. That said, this thread is not so much about allotting responsibility, it's about determining whether E3 videos were misleading or not.

I think this is a really unfair way to look at it. Sony have absolutely no say on the quality of video that gets shown at a press conference. Its not like they knew back then how the game would turn out. How would Sony even go about vetting that?

Likewise Hello Games could only show what they had at the time, did you want them to dumb the game down back then because maybe in 2 years time its gna look a little different. I dont think that makes sense.

I understand dissapointment in the final product thats fine, but i dont think misleading is appropriate here.

What I think would be misleading, is if they used old footage in the latest trailers. Which i dont think is the case. All the latest trailers and gameplay demos, even the more recent videos from E3 seem representative of the final product thats been released.

As of now, the title of the E3 2014 trailer refers to the footage as "gameplay trailer" but gameplay looks nothing like what that trailer shows.
