I have my doubts about how they got their number. And no, only 20% of people downvote a product just to screw it over for stupid reasons, but at the same time, 40% of people upvote a product for stupid reasons. So I think if anything, it balances out the other way.

Anyways, my problem with the game is that it's clearly an open-alpha product being marketed as a finished game. You put a game on alpha when there's still features to add. You put a game on beta when there's still major bugs to fix, but all major features are completed. A lot of people wouldn't have bought the game yet if it was open-alpha. Crash issues would have been completely forgiven if it was still a beta. But no, they released it as a completed product.
