My little nephew already laughs when I tell him when I was growing up to record a TV show when I was out of the house I had to individually program something called a "VCR" and had to make sure I had a blank VHS cassette. He has no concept of that whatsoever. |
My kids love old tech. Hence its a mess of controllers at the tv. They recently 'discovered' my ps2 and have been playing Champions of Norrath on it. They played some gamecube games before just because the controllers look cool to them. Same with the Intellivision from 30 years ago or gameboy color. Their much more interested in old games when it comes with different tech than playing old games on the PC or through BC. Kids are still a lot more physical focused and want something tactile to go with it. Anything with controllers and/or different media is interesting.
And as a parent it also feels a lot more satisfying to give my kid a 2ds for his birthday instead of a downloadable game. He keeps coming back to the 2ds, downloadable games are usually forgotten after a week.
Their grand parents still have VHS btw, they just as gladly watch an old VHS movie as Netflix.
