It sorta sounds like rather than release new more powerful hardware in another 5-7 years, they would rather do more frequent slightly more powerful hardware that people can choose to upgrade to or not. Though I imagine people with older models will eventually have to upgrade if the upgrades become marginally larger. So I don't quite believe that generations will be over, but just be... more blurry I guess? It could def get them more profits if more people actually kept buying every new upgrade, but doesn't very pleasant.... or you never need to upgrade and consoles in terms of power won't really get much better than they are now.
