IMO depends on how you look at it. In terms of current sales and market hype they do and the Wii-mote is a pretty innovative idea (although I would prefer a virtual reality solution at some point).
The Gameboy destroyed the competition, but not due to hardware specs, more through good marketing and some additive high profile games like Tetris and Super Mario games which kids love. However for me personally I thought the original Gameboy was too bulky, too much lacking colors (shades of black & white) and did not offer enough game varierty.
Similarly the NES and Snes outperformed the much more expensive low-end Amigas existing next those consoles, but personally overall I preffered the A500's varierty of high quality games over the NES games. There's a huge gap in quality there, apart from a handful system sellers the Snes IMO also lacked game varierty compared to the Amiga 500 games library. Market performance is not only driven by technological advancements, for which the Amiga was clearly superior but also driven by marketing, exclusive games and entry price.
