America loves to do this, but there is only 1 way to rank it and that's by gold medals. If its a tie it goes to silver. That's how the winner is decided in most if not all major sporting events. |
Every American media outlet I've seen is doing it by gold if tied by silver, if still tied by bronze. Did they used to do it differently? I can't recall how it was done in previous Olympics.
I watched Walsh/Ross vs Agatha/Barbara beach volleyball last night. The Brazilians played great, including some amazing saves that looked near impossible, and Walsh/Ross played awful. They made so many errors and bad decisions; Walsh couldn't dig if you gave her a shovel last night. They had enough talent to stay in it, but they needed their 'A' game against opponents like Agatha/Barbara and they just didn't have it. I hope they can at least take Bronze in the third place match, but after that performance I'm not confident.
