You watch Pokemon the cartoon for 5 minutes and obviously you'll notice people act a bit more bizarre and tend to yell catchphrases and things. the goofiness needs to remain

The thing is, what will the movie be like? Silly like the first 3 generations, or have a more serious tone from gens 5 and 6?
Either way, they would be sticking to the true core of pokemon. Pokemon BW actually had a decent plot with character development- it can easily be made into a movie. However, I'm sure the plot will be unique.
Regardless, I'd really like to see Team Rocket, Magma/Aqua or team plasma as the main villains.
