No Mans Sky sold purely based on the originality of its concept. Just think of it, so many people (myself included) bought this game having no idea what it really was. 

I hope this spurs the industry into seeing that games like these are worth the investment. 

Came here to say this. I mean two of the above games are twins of each other and the third is No.3 in a series of open world RPG, all slightly different takes on medevil fantasy (well BB is Victorian but still).... 

Especially as an RPG fan, I want more developers to be taking risks. The genre needs diversification, fantasy needs to become new again and not just chainmail, dragons and gore. 

Not taking anything away from those games, but they don't represent the same conceptual ambition as NMS.

And to think someone called me stupid for saying this lol.
