It doesn't matter if the game is digital or retail, bundled means bundled.
And there is a huge difference between the bundles of GTA V and Wii Sports.
IIRC Wii Sports was bundled with every Wii for years. If people bought a Wii, they would automatically get Wii Sports too despite the fact that they may never touch the game in the future. In the case of the GTA V bundle, there was variety and the GTA V bundle was only an alternative from all the PS4 bundles. For instance you could get a standard PS4 for $399 or a PS4 with GTA V for $430. Therefore only people who were interested in GTA V got the GTA bundle because they saved money with it ($430 GTA V bundle is cheaper than buying $399 PS4 and $70 GTA V together). And people who didn't want to get GTA V with their PS4 had the alternative to buy the standard PS4 or an other bundle. This wasn't the case witth the Wii and Wii Sports.

All I'm reading here is the reason a retail game - Wii Sports - was massively succesful, but nothing here indicates why it can't be compared with other games. Wii Sports is a game, a game not unlike the massively bundled Lego Indiana Jones or Kung Fu Panda on 360 (games that some people very well touched once and then forgot on their library). Its something you can have in your library, a disc you can lend to your friends, or resell at the store:

It's in essence a game, not unlike any other, with the added benefit on being bundled with the Wii's. It's a game whose success can be compared with other games.

You talk about having the option to buy a PS4 without GTA V. Using the same logic, you could buy certain Wiis without Wii Sports, such as the Mario Kart pack (without Wii Sports, as there were some that included it), the Wii Fit one, or when they ditched Wii Sports and started bundling Wii Sports Resort (which is the sequel, hence a different game). That argument of yours only makes the case on Wii and Wii Sports even more valid, as you've really not pointed out why can't we use Wii Sports as a metric. Wikipedia (for all that it's worth, of course) has listed Wii Sports as the third best-selling videogame ever in history, with GTA V (breathtakingly enough) being the fourth, below 20 millions to surpass it. No mention of Minesweeper or Solitaire, so their metric does exclude them but includes Wii Sports.
