The anonymity of the Internet certainly is an aggravating factor. But I do think parochialism and brand loyalty is a bigger problem in the community of video game fans than, say, movie or music fans.

For movies, the recent petition to take down RottenTomatoes because of the bad Suicide Squad score seems to fall in the same category as this attack on Jim's site (i.e. incredibly stupid things insecure people do when someone "attacks" the thing they love ).

Oh good point! I had completely forgotten about that.

Although I wonder if that has more to do with DC/Marvel than it does with cinema.
