That would be a fair point if the entire internet wasn't like this. Name one thing that doesn't get attacked. One thing.

It has nothing to do with the gaming community and everything to do with a lot of people being pricks who can say whatever they want with no consequences.

The anonymity of the Internet certainly is an aggravating factor. But I do think parochialism and brand loyalty is a bigger problem in the community of video game fans than, say, movie or music fans.
