No Man’s Sky isn’t a multiplayer game, in as much as you’ll never see another player. But the galaxy is the same between everyone and actions of “significance” will be shared. If you kill a single bird, that won’t be shared. If you make an entire species of bird extinct, then those creatures will blink out of existence for everyone.

So the OP is misleading us?  Damn I was all pumped for some steak burning.  

 

It makes sense really.  Imagine if you could all see eachother.  The game would be a clusterfuck around the centre of the universe with hundreds of thousands of players all milling around the same area.  I don't know how that would even work.  I'm glad they've done it this way.
