QUADRILATERAL COWBOY'S SOURCE CODE HAS BEEN RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC

Quadrilateral Cowboy is a retro-hacking heist game in which you dial into security systems with your trusty 56K modem to open doors, disable security, and perform other feats of digital derring-do in the service of the highest bidder. It's quite good, “a smart puzzle game, overflowing with personality,” and now developer Blendo Games is giving players the opportunity to hack it up for real by releasing the source code.

A fun little glitch in Lucioball, the Rocket League-like Overwatch game mode Blizzard released last week, recently came to light: While the game is supposed to be a Lucio-exclusive affair, it's possible to play as other characters who really aren't designed for it. At first, it seemed to happen almost randomly, but some players have apparently figured out how to make it happen intentionally, which has prompted Blizzard to warn of dire consequences for those who do.

Building a believable, lived-in fictional world is one of the most difficult things in game development, but Arkane proved with Dishonored that they were up to the job. We adored Dishonored’s industrial city of Dunwall, and Arkane is approaching Prey’s science fiction world with the same care.

Since Blizzard announced the cards in its Hearthstone One Night in Karazhan adventure earlier this week, many have seized on the topic of the Purify card – a Priest class card universally considered to be crap. Our own Tim Clark called it "one of the worst cards ever printed in Hearthstone". The outcry has grown so loud that Hearthstone lead designer Ben Brode has felt compelled to upload a video justifying it.

BETHESDA HINTS AT THE EVIL WITHIN AND RAGE SEQUELS

Prior to its pre-E3 press conference, many a rumour circulated as to what would or wouldn’t be revealed by Bethesda. In the end, a Skyrim remaster was confirmed, as was a Prey sequel, however one whisper which seemed to slip through the net was a follow-up to 2014’s horror romp The Evil Within. Although unable to fully commit, Bethesda’s vice president Pete Hines has now said both Shinji Mikami’s scarefest and first-person shooter Rage have done enough to merit sequels.

STELLARIS DETAILS HEINLEIN PATCH 1.3, DUE OCTOBER

Off the back of its recent Plantoids DLC release, Paradox has launched a series of developer diaries which outline where Stellaris is headed next. Via its Heinlein 1.3 patch—set to arrive in October—the Swedish 4x-meets-grand strategy specialists will focus on “addressing community feedback” as it installs a “large number of interface and quality of life improvements” moving forward.
