Id Software DOESN’T KNOW YET IF QUAKE CHAMPIONS WILL BE FREE-TO-PLAY
http://www.pcgamer.com/id-software-doesnt-know-yet-if-quake-champions-will-be-free-to-play/
At QuakeCon yesterday, Bethesda revealed new gameplay footage for Prey and Dishonored 2 to a packed house in Dallas—both exciting, especially because we want to turn into a coffee mug—but for FPS fans Quake Champions was the highlight of the show. While it sounds like there’s lots more development to be done on the game—even the business model is still up in the air—id Software head Tim Willits is in a very good mood.

A couple of weeks ago we took a tour of the Retribution, the flying space fortress that will serve as your home base in the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Today, it's time to find out how Lt. Nick Reyes, a Special Forces pilot in SATO's Space Combat Air Recon unit, ended up in charge of it.

http://www.pcgamer.com/outreach-promises-a-sinister-mystery-aboard-an-80s-era-soviet-space-station/
Outreach is a “Cold War conspiracy thriller” set on a covert Soviet space station during the tail-end of the Cold War in the 1980s. You play a famed cosmonaut, sent up alone to discover why the station has suddenly halted all communications. Based on the announcement trailer released earlier this week, whatever it is you discover while you're up there, it's really, really not good.

NO MAN'S SKY'S SERVERS WILL BE WIPED PRIOR TO OFFICIAL RELEASE
http://www.pcgamer.com/no-mans-skys-servers-will-be-wiped-prior-to-official-release/
There's a lot of room in No Man's Sky—more planets than we could ever conceivably visit in their lifetimes—but there's been something vaguely off-putting about the fact that some people have been gotten copies of the game early and have been noodling around the universe, naming planets and creatures before the rest of us have even been able to put on our flight suits and load up on Tang.

SQUAD VERSION 7 OUT NOW, ADDS VEHICLES
http://www.pcgamer.com/squad-version-7-out-now-adds-vehicles/
Ian Birnbaum had a high opinion of Early Access military sim Squad back in December of last year, and that was before it featured vehicles—quite an important part of the modern military experience, I'm told. Long promised, Squad finally gets vehicles today, as part of its massive alpha 7 patch, now on Steam. You can see the new features in action in the trailer above, or you can read this enormous blog post, which goes into how vehicles function in exhaustive detail.
ROCKET LEAGUE IS GETTING A BATTLE ROYALE STYLE RUMBLE MODE NEXT MONTH
http://www.pcgamer.com/rocket-league-is-getting-a-battle-royale-style-rumble-mode-next-month/
It's been over a year since Rocket League came out, and the once absurd sight of rocket-powered vehicles nudging oversized balls around futuristic stadiums has now become normalised. So it's lucky that Psyonix is soon to release a new Rumble Mode, which introduces a range of over-the-top power-ups in a battle royale-style setting. If you pine for the days when Rocket League seemed cu-razy, this may appeal.
EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1 TO GET TIME OF THE MUTANTS MISSIONS DLC TODAY
http://www.pcgamer.com/earth-defense-force-41-to-get-time-of-the-mutants-missions-dlc-today/
When Phil reviewed Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair—the updated PC port of 2014’s Earth Defense Force 2025—a couple of weeks back, he noted that while it had “no polish or refinement” it was also “ridiculously fun at its best, which it frequently is.” Today it adds to said fun, as well as its 80 campaign missions and arsenal of 800 weapons, with its first mission pack—Time of the Mutants.
HITMAN COULD GET TWO MORE SEASONS
http://www.pcgamer.com/hitman-could-get-two-more-seasons/
As Agent 47 gears up for his fourth episodic outing—this time to the Thai capital of Bangkok—it seems IO Interactive and Square Enix’s sporadic stealth-meets-murder sim has another two seasons planned, once this one’s done and dusted.
