i havent' watched the sopranos so no opinions there...
...but if you are just looking for suggestions
1. absolute must +1 breaking bad, amazing show
2. lots and lots of good suggestions in this thread already. firefly, house of cards, californication, archer, six feet under, game of thrones, dr. who.
3. shows i didn't see mentioned that deserve a call out

i'd also just generically say that everything HBO, Showtime, Netflix Originals, and IFC is pretty damn good.
