Maybe it`s just T-shirt, but I see a lot of people addoring him (even if they don`t really know all the crimes he commited), and about Kim Il-Sung, I don`t know as well if he is still adored. But I get your point.

To close out our discussion, my initial post combined the cult icon with social engineering.  Che's icon status didn't happen because of a determined plot by Che to become that icon.  Nor is there a central force (company, government, etc...) running a propoganda program to maintain his iconic status.   Better stated, no one entity has ultimate control over Che's fan base while the NK governmentmost certainly does.

One of the things that makes NK so much worse than previous dictatorships is the 3 generation rule.   Any slight at all against the Dear Leader or North Korea itself and you are imprisoned...along with your family...for the next 3 generations.  But most would never dare do that.  Not just for fear of imprisonment but because they adore him. And his family is just as revered.

They absolutely believe Kim Jong-Il was born of divinity, could walk on water (sound familiar?), provided all the clothes, food, etc...for everyone, he walked by age 3 weeks, talked by week 8, wrote thousands of books in 2 years, wrote a dozens operas that way surpass Mozart, Verdi or Wagner, also a 38 under par the first and only time he ever golfed (a dozen hole-in-ones no less), they believe he is the world's foremost fashion icon, he's climbed all the highest mountains in the world, invented the hamburger and never had to use the toilet....ever.

They built an entire village for no purpose other than propoganda.  No one actually lives there.

It's been like this for over 60 years with no expectations of change any time soon.

I bow down and concede over your knowledge of their adoration.
