Not invalidating his point, just stating that it isn't relevant to mine.  It's "fair" because this thread is discussing the validity of portable consoles, with many arguemnets in the case of their invalidity being "they're not as pretty".  My counter to that is portables(in this case the 3DS) stand alone/exclusive libraries are hard to rival.  But as I said in the original post, discussing this is a headache as the subjectivity and straw-manning slowly starts to creep in the more you talk about it(not that anyone has done so yet).

His point was that your argument wouldn't make difference to the idea of this thread. Nobody is saying that handhelds are irrelevant, just that home consoles are more important and library is a good point to validate that.

I don't see it as deeming handhelds "useless". I have a Vita and love it and really think it's a shame that Sony won't release one. I will probably buy Nintendo's next portable and if NX is really a hybrid, that would make it a even more sweet deal. However, if I only had money/time to have a single platform, it would be a home console. Now, in the case of already having one home console, I would rather buy a portable than a second home console, since it will allow me to play on the go.

A bit off-topic, but that last point really makes me wish NX is a hybrid. If it's cheap, Nintendo could easily sell it to people who already have a current gen console. As it's lauching mid-gen, it would be a great strategy since almost 70m people already have a PS4/X1.
