10th generation consoles will utilize streamed data from regional server farms.
You buy a receiver (basically a high end ultraband modem) with controller ports and a HDD. You log into your account and the select either a per play service or buy a license to play a title. Select the game you want and it's run on those regional servers.
This creates a very highly attractive business model for publishers since retail is gone (no more limited shelf space/life) and removes all modern day piracy issues.
It also makes it much cheaper to own a very high powered "console" since you just buy the receiver and controller. Software is cheaper too with no retail and distribution costs or retailer profit margin.
It's basically Folding@Home for games.
