Why are handhelds often seen as inferior or not as important as home consoles?

Consoles will typically have better games, that's for sure. However, we shouldn't count handhelds out.

Ive owned at least one iteration of every Ninty handheld, a PSP and a Vita. You're preaching to the choir, hell i wish handhelds were more relevant but alas
